Paris Burns: DC Remains Too Cool

Posted by revkharma on November 16, 2015

Paris is burning, and DC is chilly. We have seen a well planned, well executed and devastating attack in Paris. Islamic fanatics have killed scores and it appears to be a direct result of the plans and achievements of the leaders of the West.
“Refugees” from Syria, and radicalized Europeans have struck in the heart of France with bloody results.
In the US, reaction is mixed. Our president has resolutely refused to change course, with his administration standing firm in their plans to import tens of thousands of those very same refugees.
After years of minimizing the role of ISIS, and refusing to even say ‘Islamic Terror’ President Obama on Friday, the day of the massacre, was quoted once more with noted ignorance, claiming that ISIS was now contained, and not a growing threat. At the gathering of world leaders, the American president was noticeably late for the formal gathering for a memorial moment of silence to honor the dead from the ISIS assault.
Even today, when pressed by media, President Obama has steadfastly refused to respond forcefully, with this the most telling exchange:

“CNN’s Jim Accosta said…’I guess the question is, and if you’ll forgive the language is”Why can’t we take out these bastards”?
Obama scoffed at the question: “What I’m not interested in doing is posing or pursuing some notion of ‘American Leadership’ or America winning’ He said firmly”

Via Breitbart

This, then is pretty decisive and clear. This man, the president of the USA is NOT interested in victory by America.

Immediately following the attacks, Obama announced that he was releasing five Yemeni prisoners from Guantanamo, including the man who was Osama Bin Laden’s body guard. He appears bent on  showing he cares more for Islamists than Americans.
Why is this? What can possibly be the answer?

Our president has sometimes been portrayed as being an islamist. He has denounced those who have questioned his Christian credentials. Recall the scrambling to rephrase and reframe this famous quote in an interview with George Stephanopolis, where he responded to a question with an answer about ” My Muslim Faith” ?  If in fact, Obama had been raised as a Muslim by his father, then later in life he became Christian, then according to the Sharia law, he is an apostate. If this were the case, he would be subject to death by true believers.  As it happens, there have not been calls for his death for this crime.  Yet he continues to show more concern for defaming Islam than defending Christianity.
Answers range from his leftist upbringing, racialist philosophy, to Al Taqiyya.
But, in truth, the answers are irrelevant. The truth, the facts, are plain enough. As long as he is in command, Obama will not lead, will not permit America to win. He has stated plainly such. He must be thwarted, his successor must be someone capable of reversing his damage.

I don’t recognize my country today… or Has Carter been Reelected?

Posted by revkharma on September 13, 2012

I don’t recognize my country today.

The last few days have presented a clear and obvious choice. Our Embassies, sovereign territory placed within other nations, have been attacked and defiled. Our ambassador has been killed, along with several others in planned coordinated attacks on American facilities.

While the government of Mohammed Morsi permitted his thugs to invade the grounds of the American Embassy in Cairo, the US state department was issuing apologies to Islam, condemning those who would dare to ‘Hurt the feelings’ of Muslims anyplace in the world.

When a candidate for the office of president challenged the appropriateness of this apology, he was roundly criticized, not for saying something untrue or incorrect, but for ‘the timing’ of his statement. All this while the State dept. repeated and reissued the same statement even while the flag of our nation was being pulled down, set ablaze and replaced by a flag representing the very Al Qaeda groups which have attacked us repeatedly.

Following that atrocity in Egypt, Libyan ‘extremists’ assaulted the consulate and the American Ambassador. He and others were escorted to a ‘safe location’ by Libyan guards… apparently we had no US Marines available to protect the representative of the United States in a dangerous area…

Once ensconced in said safe location, the Libyan ‘protectors’ then took to the streets, to inform the ‘small band of extremists’ as to the location of the American delegation.

Upon this felicitous discovery, the Ambassador and his aides were murdered, and their bodies carried, as trophies, through the streets in jubilant celebration of the pinnacle of Arab Muslim civilization.

To this point, there have been as many differing explanations and causes given for the death of these people as questions about ‘the motives’ of the assault.

It must have been that cheap movie; the clip was shown on YouTube. That’s why they attacked. Not because they want to extend their reach globally. So, in order to prevent them from attacking again, and to refute the statements of those who claim this is all about extending Sharia law in our modern world as it has been in their pre historic caliphate, many journalists have called out for the arrest and trial of a nominally Christian pastor who has supported the movie. He must be made to pay. We must curtail his right to speak, lest he offend some Islamic man of peace and drive him to behead someone in The Levant. We must implement the rules of Sharia in order to prove that the Islamofascists are not trying to implement the rules of Sharia.

Then our President makes his statement.

He uses one of his most useful collections of weasel words, telling us to “Make No mistake”

(This is a phrase he generally uses to ensure that we know he is about to make an intentional forced error)

“Justice will be done” Our president has promised that “Justice will be done”

This is step one. Justice, as in the Department of Justice. That great bastion of integrity and fairness which upon winning summary judgment against a group ( The New Black Panther Party) which used force to intimidate voters at polling places in Philadelphia, abandoned the case, and surrendered, dropping all charges against those who had just been convicted. That Standard Bearer of brilliance, which has stonewalled the investigation of the killing of a US agent by foreign nationals using guns purchased through a program managed by that very justice department, and denied by the head of that august body. That kind of justice.

Today after two devastating attacks, carried out on the eleventh day of September, (does that day ring any bells anyone??? Hello???) Our President, our leader, the most powerful man on the planet, has dispatched…….

The FBI to investigate and determine the motives of the attackers.

THE FREAKING FBI????? We are attacked by forces under the control of foreign governments, our representatives are murdered, our embassies defiled, our flag burned and REPLACED by the flag of our enemies, and we send in the cops???

Of course we will investigate, we will debate, and we will take an overt act of war and magically transmogrify it into an act of civil criminal disobedience, to be explained by root causes, and oppression by the evil conservative Christian right wing hate groups.

Soon enough we will see that the attacks in Cairo and Ben Ghazi are actually the result of actions by Rush Limbaugh, Fox News and Paul Ryan, abetted of course by the Koch brothers, enabled by the Citizens United decision. The only way to prevent such attacks from happening again will be to suspend the first amendment, and permit the government to support and affirm the rights of Muslims to impose their will, to eliminate the second amendment to prevent ‘right wing terrorists’ from attacking us from within, and to ensure that Obama and his administration remain in power to protect us from the Israelis who are the real source of terror in the middle east.

Of course, that last paragraph is a farce, a parody of reality. Absurd words, meant to dramatize the reality which is much nicer and safer. It is, I promise, … or at least I pray it is.

All the News That Isn’t

Posted by revkharma on March 23, 2012

I know, it’s a familiar title, and not original.
this week in France, a Muslim terrorist attacked and killed jews, in he name of his religion.
He killed several elite french military men, and using a gun, held police at bay for hours, eventually jumping to his death, while continuing to shoot at the police who could not capture him.
Several things
first, all the major nets covered other stories first.
Let’s look—
Muslim terrorist Can’t say that.
he used a gun.. They are supposed to be banned, thus unavailable in France, how’d that happen?
Third, he killed Jews… Thought they were the persecutors not victims. supposed to be running the world… not hunted and killed.
And he was a TERRORIST… Thought we were done with that.
Can’t shake up the fat happy sheep watching wheel of fortune and “the voice’ on their big screen Tv while cashing their second year of unemployment checks.

No way will the big shots in charge allow anything to shake these fat blobs of gelatinous lipids from their torpor. They might just fire up a dormant neuron long enough to understand they are being misled, and maybe one or two percent of them might actually resist their slavery.

The Danger Model

Posted by revkharma on August 11, 2010

I was listening to the radio the other day, and caught part of an interview with a cancer specialist.  She was discussing a recent trend in cancer treatment theory and contrasting it with traditional methodology and treatment theories.

About as close as I can get to explaining it is like this.

Traditionally we look at the immune system as border guards or police, roaming looking for foreign intruders. Once found these intruders are attacked and destroyed.  The problem is with the cancer cells. Frequently they are NOT strangers, but merely healthy cells which are growing faster and more productively than those around them. They are not different.

So, a new idea has come along, something called the Danger Model. The idea here is to compare the actions more to a fire station. There the defenders are waiting, prepared to respond when a signal is received indication danger which will generate a response.

Immune cells respond to a toxin, or the contents of a ruptured killed cell and react, attacking and destroying the dangerous cells.

In the late 1800’s Dr William Coley used such a theory to treat cancer. An example of how this worked  can be found here:

On January 24, 1893, the first patient to receive Coley Vaccine[2] was John Ficken, a sixteen-year-old boy with a massive abdominal tumor. Every few days, Coley injected his vaccine directly into the tumor mass and produced the symptoms of an infectious disease, but did not produce the disease itself. On each injection, there was a dramatic rise in body temperature and chills. The tumour gradually diminished in size. By May 1893, after four months of intensive treatment, the tumour was a fifth its original size. By August, the remains of the growth were barely perceptible.

So, why the rambling medical history? It’s a long way around to make a salien political point.  Currently we have growth of government stimulated by a cadre of politicians who have seemed no different from any others who have come along in the past. They have built upon the foundations of the past, enlarging and expanding “Leviathan” to unprecedented scope and size.

They have moved swiftly, taking the controls of our systems and begun to direct the function and output toward their own goals.  Most of the nation has simply sat and watched, as there seemed no real danger from another bunch of politicians. The liberty which past generations have prized has been trimmed, and scaled back.  The rights and freedoms so cherished have been encroached upon, while the tumor of government growth has expanded, swelling and growing sleek and thick within the skin of the once proud and healthy nation.

Gradually some have in fact, perceived a signal and slowly started to react.  But only around the margins, and only slowly, tentatively have they begun to attempt to stop the tumor cells from expanding and taking over.

What we need is clear. Somehow, some way the body politic of this nation needs to get a fever. something must happen which will start the defenders moving, moving swiftly and with purpose.

The most common hope is that these people will make a step, take some action which finally stir enough people to react and expel the cancer cells.

The problem with waiting is that while we wait, the tumor grows enormous and sleek. It draws more and more of the resources from the healthy body until  not enough strength remains to fight it off. Then the cancer metastasizes essentially taking control of the entire body.

A look at tracking polls show that 46% of Americans strongly disapprove of the current president’s actions.

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Wednesday shows that 24% of the nation’s voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as president. Forty-six percent (46%) Strongly Disapprove, giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -22 (see trends).

This matches the lowest Approval Index rating yet measured for this president.

The worst performance ever. Yet still he and his party continue, acting with impunity, brazenly continuing to plunder the treasury as citizens watch. While Leviathan is feeding from the very blood of the nation, the muscles and bones which support it are being weakened and rotted.  As any cancer grows, it steals the needed resources and nutrients which the healthy tissue needs. Masquerading as part of the body, it extends its reach, feeding on the  body it is destroying from within.

Most people simply continue, going about their daily business as if there is no problem. We act as if this is merely another phase, simply a small cough which will pass. Meanwhile the tumor, which began decades ago continues to swell and pulse, threatening our  existence.  We move along with our chores, oblivious, ignoring the cries of those who see the danger.

I am not supplying answers here, just observing. But clearly somehow, something must be done. Something has to happen to waken those capable of defending the nation from the growing cancer. If we fail to react, if we allow it to continue to thrive, the killing cells will spread, taking control of, and eventually completely destroying the nation.

We have to find a way to send a danger signal that can be clearly heard, and one which will engender a strong enough response to finally and completely destroy the disease which continues to strangle our lives as it feeds and grows unchecked.

Perhaps this economic strain will act as a sort of  “Coley’s toxin”, which will cause the necessary mobilization of defenders.  Perhaps the plunder of our resources and vast deficit spending will be the signal which brings out the immune response.  Something will.  It had better happen.  We really don’t have all that much time left.

Before it is too late, we need to act.

Keep the Faith!

Just Watch the Right Distort Obama’s Guantanamo/al-Qaeda Remarks

Posted by brotherkharma on January 6, 2010

Warning – This is long (for me), meandering, and quite possibly incoherent. Please do not mistake this for an official White House briefing or proposed legislation.

It is amazing to me, although I thought I was finished being shocked by the left.  I Googled the phrase “Obama’s Guantanamo/al-Qaeda remarks” and it took me 10 minutes to find the actual remarks.  I had to search to find the text of the speech.  All that came up on Google (at least the first 2 pages – which is all my attention span will allow me to look through) was the same silly blog being reposted all over the place.  The blog was “Just Watch the Right Distort Obama’s Guantanamo/al-Qaeda Remarks”.  They claim the President was saying Guantanamo was a propaganda and recruiting tool, and that the right has begun to twist his words.  The same way the head of Homeland Security had her words twisted by being quoted?  Maybe the same way Supreme Court nominees have their words twisted, by repeating them in their entirety with contextual explanation?   Now I’ll grant them that President Obama said:

“For over seven years, we have detained hundreds of people at Guantanamo…. There is also no question that Guantanamo set back the moral authority that is America’s strongest currency in the world.  Instead of building a durable framework for the struggle against al Qaeda that drew upon our deeply held values and traditions, our government was defending positions that undermined the rule of law.  …. Meanwhile, instead of serving as a tool to counter terrorism, Guantanamo became a symbol that helped al Qaeda recruit terrorists to its cause.  Indeed, the existence of Guantanamo likely created more terrorists around the world than it ever detained.”

The problem is he said that in May, 2009.  What he said in January of 2010 was:

“But make no mistake:  We will close Guantanamo prison, which has damaged our national security interests and become a tremendous recruiting tool for al Qaeda.  In fact, that was an explicit rationale for the formation of al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula.  And, as I’ve always said, we will do so — we will close the prison in a manner that keeps the American people safe and secure.”

Now the phrase “explicit rationale for the formation of al Qaeda” seems to my untrained ears to mean the reason they are there.  If he wanted to say Guantanamo helped them recruit or helped raise sympathy in the Islamic world, I think he would have said it like that.  You know, the way he did in May.  Both speeches do a lot to tell you his mind set in dealing with this threat.  Following the “explicit rationale” comments, he went into detail on how he will address security.  The President warns us that al Qaeda is “constantly evolving and adapting their efforts to strike us”.  The White House site also says what I hope is a typo: “As they refine our tactics, we’ll enhance our defenses”.  People tell me I am overly critical of the President on this issue, so here I am going to rush to his side.  He did not mean that al Qaeda is refining our tactics! They are not wondering into the White House, uninvited, and offering their opinions.  I mean, no one gets in there like that!  The President promises us “smarter screening and security at airports, and investing in the technologies that might have detected the kind of explosives used on Christmas”.  Well, I am willing to help my country.  I have an old laptop that is kind of slow, a little buggy, and needs an external keyboard attached to it, but it can run e-mail, a web browser, and word.  I will happily provide this 21st Century anti-terror technology to the TSA so they can see if someone on multiple watch lists, buying a one way ticket in cash the day of the flight without a valid passport should be searched as thoroughly as I was the 3rd time I flew round trip from Philly to Colorado Springs in the same month.

In May, he really laid down the gauntlet.  In that speech he stated “We are indeed at war with al Qaeda and its affiliates”.  Hoo-rah! (Can’t you just hear R. Lee screaming that out maggot?) He followed it up with the caution on how to prosecute this war.  “But we must do so with an abiding confidence in the rule of law and due process; in checks and balances and accountability.”  Hoo-hah!

I don’t recall FDR demanding lawyers and checks and balances to combat the Nazi threat.  I do not recall a stirring speech to Congress promising to bring Admiral Yamamoto to justice.  I have spoken to many WWII vets, none of whom have ever issued a Miranda warning on the battlefield. But wait, he leans on some quasi historical precedent.  “…the decisions that were made over the last eight years established an ad hoc legal approach for fighting terrorism that was neither effective nor sustainable — a framework that failed to rely on our legal traditions and time-tested institutions…” .  Can anyone tell me what war the US waged with a reliance on “our legal traditions and time-tested institutions”?  The American Revoloution? No.  Civil War? Hmmmm, nope.  Either World War?  Don’t think so.  Wait!  I have it.  The closest we came was in Vietnam.  That’s the model we want to follow, right?

Well, if that didn’t strike fear in the hearts of our enemies, they did it today.  They revoked the Visa of Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, the man who tried to blow up 300 people on Christmas day.  12 days later, they revoked his visa.  The Administration is sending a STRONG Clear statement!  If you are a failed terrorist, we don’t want you here!  And Gitmo, which of course is the main reason that al-Qaeda flourishes on the Arabian Peninsula, will ABSOLUTELY be closed!  Sometime.  Soon.  Probably. We think, just don’t send them to Yemen.  Or to Illinois because we can’t afford to buy lights and a new fence at the vacant state prison – fiscal responsibility is part of the new change in Washington remember!

Now there are some who will point to the cooperation of the Yemen government as evidence that Obama is gaining support around the world.  It might seem like the approach to this as a legal issue and closure of Gitmo has garnered support in the Middle East.  However, let’s take a deeper look.  Since 2001, US military, not prosecutors, have driven the Taliban into the mountains.  They have ripped Saddam from power and wrought havoc on the terror organizations that attempted to move into Iraq.  The war was pushed away from our shores and towards the heart of Islamofascism.  But why the sudden support of Yemen?  There has also been support of the Saudis, who have launched air strikes against al-Qaeda on the Saudi/Yemeni border.  In August of 2009, for the first time in decades, there was an attempted assassination of a member of the Saudi Royal Family.  Al-Qaeda sent a suicide bomber tried to kill Prince Muhammad bin Nayef, assistant interior minister for security affairs, in his palace in Jeddah.  Somehow I think this is far more likely to cause Saudi and Yemeni cooperation than a guarantee that someday Gitmo will close and the threat to deport every failed terrorist.

BTW – if anyone is still reading this, I feel sorry for you but wanted you to know one more thing.  The reason I gave it the title I did was to hopefully get it in the mix of those other brain dead blogs that made me go on this rant.  Have a nice day and go J-E-T-S-Jets Jets JETS!!!!

Seals and Terrorists

Posted by revkharma on November 30, 2009

I am sure you’ve read much about the Navy Seals being tossed overboard after a complaint from a captured terrorist.

{Editors note from Rev:Let me preface all this as speculation and guess  work, combined with some stuff I have heard from others. I have never been in any branch of the  military, and will not even begin to pretend to understand the stress these heroic people are undergoing. I have read much discussed much, and think I have a common sense understanding of much of what is happening.

I would also like to ask a favor from readers. Some of you are a bit more experienced and knowledgeable in all this than I am. If someone has information relevant to this, which supports or refutes what I have begun to put together, please let me know.  A comment will be read, and replied to, and anything with verifiable info will be greatly appreciated. What I see happening is disgusting and dangerous. This needs to be brought from the shadows and into the light of day one way or another. Thanks– The Rev.}

With some digging, and listening, some things have come to my attention.
First, this is standard practice for the bad guys. There is a physical manual which details ways to file complaints against American soldiers who capture, imprison, interrogate or transport Al Qaeda captives. It is a frequent event that once placed into a transport truck that said bad guy will attempt to slam his own face into the walls or sides of the truck in order to induce injuries which they will later claim were ‘torture’ induced. Another tactic is to jump from the moving vehicle, once again to induce physical injuries.

Also the steps of discipline when a complaint is filed are pretty solidly laid out. The Chief is first consulted, then the unit command and so on up the chain. If these guys were referred to Admiral’s Mast then one of two things are apparent.
First, what they did was wrong and blatantly violated some order or procedure, and/or someone demonstrably lied to an investigator. I am told that Seal teams respect and revere integrity, and if it comes to it, they will take the honorable course and admit.
Second possibility is that someone way up the chain moved this to Admiral’s Mast.  This is the most insidious rumor I have heard. There is some speculation that this is a pay back. Recall the pirate ship rescue, in which the Seals took out the bad guys and rescued the captive American Captain and his crew?
The story floating up is that someone on the Seal Team actually fired against ‘ROE’  in place at the time. As the end was immediately portrayed as heroic, the public face was that CinC changed orders, and directed the action, even giving the order to pull the trigger.
As there was no way to actually punish that team, admin staffers were waiting for an excuse to exact retribution against the Seals, ANY Seals, where an example could be made. This was the opportunity That’s why the process was short circuited and moved directly to Admiral’s mast.
By refusing to participate in Admiral’s Mast, which has incorrectly been described as a ‘slap on the wrist’ and requesting Court Martial, these Seals can avail themselves of all legal means to defend their actions. The ‘slap on the wrist’ provided by an Admiral’s Mast  often ends the career of those who are slapped.
It will be interesting to see how this all plays out.

Guns, Mexico and the DHS report

Posted by revkharma on April 17, 2009

Again and again we hear the representatives of our government, from Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, to the President apologizing to Mexico for causing the problems south of the border. It is ‘our fault’ with our boundless appetites for drugs, and of course for providing “90% of all weapons” used by the narco-terrorists in Mexico. If only we could stop our be-knighted citizens from wanting these death dealing weapons,  they would not be available at ‘gun shops along the border’ and the drug lords would be disarmed. See, it’s not the fault of the weak and corrupt Mexican government, nor of the hundreds of Mexicans who desert their posts in the army and join the well armed gangs. It’s the fault of the American Second Amendment and those of us who still cling bitterly to our guns and bibles.

This week, in a short visit to Mexico, President Obama found one more foreign stop to denigrate America, and to grovel to a foreign leader to beg forgiveness for America’s transgressions.

From the NY Times:

The Obama administration had already pledged to send more agents to patrol the border with Mexico and more helicopters to Mexico. But on Thursday the president went a step further, announcing that he would press the Senate to ratify the long-stalled inter-American arms treaty, which the United States had a major hand in negotiating through the Organization of American States.

The Mexican President discussed the problem, claiming the US as the source of all his country’s trouble:

But while the two pledged their “shared responsibility” in the drug wars during a news conference here, they seemed to diverge on the issue of the assault weapons ban, which expired in 2004. Mr. Calderón said nearly 90 percent of the weapons seized in Mexico could be traced to the United States, adding that organized crime increased after the ban expired.

Now, in recent weeks, Pres Obama has repeated over and over to US media that he will not seek a reintroduction of the assault ban. However in reply to President Calderon:

Mr. Obama campaigned on a platform of renewing it, but he suggested Thursday that reviving the ban was politically impossible because of opposition from gun enthusiasts. “None of us are under any illusion that reinstating that ban would be easy,” Mr. Obama said, while insisting he was “not backing off at all” from his conviction that renewing the ban made sense.

(italics mine)

So, with the government of Mexico in a state of collapse, much of the country controlled by drug gangs, armed with weapons, equipment and even the soldiers of the Mexican Army, the president of the United States goes to Mexico and says it’s all the fault of American Citizens. Curious isn’t it?

Meanwhile Janet Napolitano, Homeland Security Secretary released a report advising US law enforcement to be on the lookout for American citizens who think taxes are too high, abortion is wrong, visit gun ranges or have just left the military. They are the real danger, according to the report.

Despite criticism from both outside and inside government, Ms. Napolitano has stood firmly behind her report, stating that she remembers Timothy McVeigh, and so the report is justified. I guess she forgets the Saudi Islamoterrorists from 9/11 as her memory skips back to 1994. One deranged American is a source of law enforcement attention, but an entire ideology bent on our destruction is now to be called ‘Man caused destruction’ instead of Terrorism.

Take a step back, and look at all of this. Obama has consistently been a ‘blame America First’ politician. When pressed he has moderated his rhetoric, but never deviated from his path.  He has joined with his Attorney General, Eric Holder, to condemn us intelligence and military interrogators as torturers, even while saying they should not be prosecuted. The left wing of the Democrat party has always been about self perpetuation and maintaining power.  While the focus of attention is on external threats, Americans tend to draw together to unite to oppose a common enemy. Such was the case in the aftermath of 9/11. However as soon as some distance  made it possible, the left began to push for a return to a pre 9/11 mentality.

That focus is now inward. As President Obama and his international representatives scurry around the globe, condemning not those who have commited such acts, but America for somehow causing others to WANT to do so, they create a certainty that America is no longer prepared to stop our adversaries. As they blame the US, they must then, logically take steps to prevent a repeat. So,we skip over 9/11, and focus on McVeigh, and such events as Columbine high school, the attention of the bovine media will shift. Instead of being forced to call Americans ‘Heroes’ as they fight and die to save  us, they will be able once more find fault with Americans.

Law enforcement can be twisted, as Homeland Security now controlled by ‘open borders’ advocates will focus on creating domestic demons to fight. More and more we will see criminals conjured from the ranks of the law abiding. Those who maintain that the Constitution is the Law of the Land will be ridiculed and attacked. Free speech will be redefined as hate speech. We are seeing the opening salvo of a fundamental attack. The fact that even in the face of outright criticism Ms. Napolitano has stood firm shows that this is not a mistaken policy paper. They are moving. Concerned patriotic Americans need to stand firm, and speak out against this.

Keep the Faith!

Bowing to Princes; Surrendering to Pirates

Posted by revkharma on April 10, 2009

Last week we saw the amazing and disturbing spectacle of a US President bowing down to a foreign prince. After several days the White House press office has issued a silly denial, and stood behind it even as just about any observer can tell the facts by watching.

We then had the follow up message. President Obama declined an invitation from French President Sarkozy to come to France and visit Normandy and Omaha Beach, the historic sites which showed the world that America is a nation which will sacrifice all in order to secure liberty. President Obama declined the invitation. Something about logistics. He would instead head to Turkey and there make a different kind of statement.

In Turkey President Obama praised Islam, assuring his listeners that we are not at war with Islam. He praised the historical achievements and gifts to the world from Islam. He praised Turkey and it’s commitment to the vision of Attaturk for a secular state. Further he apologized for the various historical mistakes made by the USA. The government to which he has addressed these words is now dominated by a party which seeks the return of Sharia law ad the implementation of an Islamic state in Turkey. The very principles which Mr. Obama praised them for are repudiated and reviled within the nation he so willingly prostrated himself and apologized to. President Obama seems not to find any foreign prince too extreme that he is unwilling to bow before.

This is contemporaneous with a couple of interesting events. While on his world tour of acclamation, Obama was confronted with another in the string of provocations by the North Koreans. Remember them? We have made nice, worked within a multilateral framework and engaged diplomatically to help solve a crisis. This has worked out so well that now not only does Comrade Kim have nuclear weapons, but is testing delivery systems. No one dared confront him. Not a single world power would do anything other than say appeasing words. The nutso leader of a starving nation told us that if we did anything to make him mad (oops angry—he’s already mad) he would take it as an act of war. So we acquiesced, and let him do as he pleased. Once more we bowed before a foreign ruler.

Then we had, for the first time in several hundred hears, pirates seized control of a US flagged merchant ship. If you recall history, this was the very reason for the creation of the United States Navy. In fact, it was at the very same locale. (From the Halls of Montezuma to the Shores of Tripoli…)

Following on the stunning and breathtaking show of force in the Korean theater, we responded in similar fashion. The crew of the ship managed to overpower the pirates, but they left with the Captain, taking him hostage in a lifeboat.

The United States Navy is now.. “Closely watching” the act ivies of the pirates. There are now reports that other pirates may be heading out to sea to join their brothers to help them. The Navy has responded. Working closely with the defense department, the Secretary of State has called in FBI hostage negotiator teams to assist in discussions to obtain the release of the captain.

“Piracy may be a centuries-old problem but we are working to bring an appropriate 21st century response,” Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton said.

“These people are nothing more than criminals and we are bringing to bear a number of our assets, including naval and FBI, in order to resolve the hostage situation and bring the pirates to justice,” Clinton said

Hmm, wonderful and very vague language. ‘Bring them to justice”. Used to be that pirates were regarded as outside the laws of war, and subject to summary execution. Now we will ‘bring them to justice” Does that mean that they will have Miranda rights read to them? Will they have court appointed lawyers to represent them? Will they have full right of pretrial discovery, allowing them to see the full scope of any and all US military assets in place to defend against the pirates? Oh the scale of this stupidity is breathtaking here.

Captain Phillips is reported to have escaped late at night, jumping overboard, and swimming away. While under the ever protective and watchful eye of the powerful US Navy and FBI, the pirates recaptured him and brought him back on board.  Yes, a very modern approach indeed. President Obama has begun to surrender to just about anyone he has not apologized to already.

The military of the US is ignored, the past historical sacrifice is hidden and put on a back shelf so we can praise those who wish to tell us what to do.

And rather than risk seeming the least bit strong, we negotiate with international pirates, giving them stature and power they can now use to gain even more money and arms with which to attack us.

One of the main roles for the government of the United States is to protect us from foreign threats. Instead, the government in DC is now bringing more and more power to bear to control the domestic population. The economy is being taken over bit by bit. Regulations are proposed to provide ‘financial assistance’ to the newspapers, so long as they surrender their independence.

Domestic spending is spiraling to unimaginable heights.

Meanwhile in the face of clear and present dangers around the world, the Obama Administration is either ‘seeking consensus’ or simply surrendering.

Make no mistake, the very fact that we are negotiating– the Government of the United States of America is negotiating with Somali Pirates—is a surrender to them. We have accepted the premise that we cannot stop them, and now are merely working out official terms of surrender.

What has happened to this once great republic?

On Terror Detainees Obama Votes: Present

Posted by revkharma on March 15, 2009

(This essay covers a few topics, all of which reflect on the policies and practices of President Obama. I have been away from the keyboard a while and needed to get some of this out there. Bear with me, it’s worth the read. The Rev)

It seems that the Obama administration has decided to abandon the use of the term “Enemy Combatatants’, and to remove the legal rational used by the Bush Administration to detain those non uniformed,  non-soldiers who have been captured battling our forces. in a report on March 14, NPR reports:

“The president has the authority to detain persons who were part of, or substantially supported, Taliban or al-Qaida forces or associated forces that are engaged in hostilities against the United States or its coalition partners, including any person who has committed a belligerent act or has directly supported hostilities in aid of such enemy armed forces,” the government asserted in court documents.

Although the brief maintains that the president still has the authority to hold prisoners at Guantanamo Bay, it also incorporated international law and congressional authorization into its legal basis for doing so. The Bush administration had argued that detention authority was derived from the president’s authority as commander-in-chief of the military.

Note a couple of key points here. First, the wording about ‘substantially supporting’ the Taliban or Al- Qaida. This is exactly the justification used by the Bush administration. Obama has consistently assailed Bush for his detainee policies, but now seems to be adopting them as his own, with merely some wording changes. The more troublesome aspect to the report above is the statement that Obama’s policy is ‘incorporating international law”. There is no way to become disentangled from the mass of brambles once we cede control of our actions to the standard of ” international law”. There has been little attention focused on this, but it is a critical change in the stance of the US.

As the courts are demanding hearings for all detainees, there must be some sort of agrument.  If Obama puts forth a legal argument in favor of detaining them, his leftist supporters will abandon him. If he agrees with the radical left that they should be released, the rest of the nation will react with fear and anger.

So what does he do? He punts.Today the administration has said it ins not yet prepared to offer a rational for the continued detention.

So, he is essentially saying nothing. He’s walking away and accepting no responsibility, and probably hoping that he can deflect the responsibility for any bad result to the courts, or, as he now is beginning to do, to ‘Blame Bush”.

Once more The Great and Powerful Obama has tried to have it both ways. He undermines US sovereignty quietly, appears to change a policy to please his backers while not actually doing anything substantive, and then puts off doing anything on a critical problem facing his government.

This is a trend, and the American people are growing increasingly aware of this, and increasingly unhappy with it. While many in the media continue to crow about Obama’s ‘record high’ approval numbers, there is  much more telling analysis. In the Wall Street Journal you can see details of a Rasmussen analysis of approval ratings and negative ratings. The tarnish is beginning to creep onto the luster of Obama’s shiny coat of gold.  This may be the time of most risk. We need to be on guard for Obama to begin to roll out his remaining millions in cash from his campaign. As he sees his poll numbers slip, how far will he go to keep his grip on total control?

Distraction, Confusion, and Misdirection

Posted by revkharma on March 9, 2009

Leonard Pitts lets loose on Rush Limbaugh in the Miami Herald today, following the footsteps of The Great and Powerful Obama. Now, I hold no inordinate fondness for Mr. Limbaugh (see here) but the full blast attack on him seems a bit out of proportion to what he has done, and what he is even capable of doing. It seems pretty obvious that as more and more attention is given to the details of the Obama administration’s actions, both domestic and on the international scene, that they will do whatever they can to deflect any hard look at their plans.  The minority party is beginning to gain some traction with its criticism of the Obama stimulus plan, and the omnibus spending bill. In addition, even some of the media outlets which prostrated themselves before Obama during the campaign are starting to question the blind acquiescence to any and all policies he spouts. Obama and his handlers know full well that if the brittle hard shell surrounding him is hit just right, it will crack like an egg, and the gunk held inside will ooze out quickly, revealing that inside the golden egg is nothing but a rancid and rotten mess.

So, what’s a wanna-be savior to do? Easy, find an opponent, and puff him up, tell everyone that he is the demon, and that he is the one causing all the trouble.  Limbaugh is an easy target. His radio show is huge, with several million people listening each time he broadcasts. He got his start as an alternative to the prevailing media culture, providing a voice that did not march in lockstep with the liberals. He pretty much blasted open the category of talk radio on a national scale. As time and fame moved along his program became a parking place for much of the traditional conservative ideas, but he seems to have been co opted by the mainstream of the GOP.  He has become a shill for the Republican Party, with a few exceptions he loudly trumpets as a way to say he is not a mainstream, big government loyal party member.

Attacking Limbaugh is a way, and a very effective way, for Obama and his apologists to deflect attention from their plans, and the failures which are already becoming apparent. It gives a focus and a rallying point. Tying him directly to the Republican Party nets a two-fer, as their allies in the media are lazy enough to deliver the gift wrapped package as news without hesitation or question. The leftists in the media are eager to join the shouting, calling Limbaugh and anyone who defends him “haters”.  Such branding is a way to short circuit any examination of the substance of his attacks, and to distract anyone who might actually seek to find out what it is that they are afraid he is saying.

Any fascist regime needs an enemy, an outsider to point to as the source of problems and as a justification for actions which restrict freedom. Attacking Limbaugh might just give Obama and his congressional allies all the fury they need to impose some sort of broadcast restrictions, called a “Fairness Doctrine” or something else.  The problem is, once they do that, there will need to be another enemy, larger and more diffused throughout the culture to point at.

Make no mistake, they will begin searching, and they will start laying the groundwork soon. Once it is clear just how willing the serfs in this country are to follow his lead, the Great and Powerful Obama will begin to find other targets, other rallying points, other demons and dragons to slay. With each silly target he deflates, he will claim more and more to be our protector, and will request more and more liberty surrendered to help him win his fights, and justify his power grabs. Circular reasoning will confuse and allow him to work with little resistance.

He campaigned on talking with, and accommodating our enemies abroad, and derided the idea of a war on terror. He pledged to make nice with Russia, North Korea, Iran, Hezbollah, and the Islamofascists across the globe. So, if we have few enemies abroad, there is only one place for the Great and Powerful Obama to find enemies. That is right here. Expect all sort of domestic problems, subversive groups, hate groups, government opponents to pop up across the country. Recall during the mid 90’s the constant focus on ‘militia’ groups all across the country. Anyone who thinks that was the biggest threat we faced at the time was not paying attention. Recall that 1993 was the first attack on the World Trade Center, and it was given less urgency than the militia groups in Michigan. I have a hunch we may be in for more of the same before too long. Anyone in favor of the Second Amendment will be a villain. Anyone who prefers private property to Government control will be greedy. If you want to keep your own money instead of giving it to the IRS (of course headed by a tax cheat) you will be un-American and blocking needed reforms to ‘move the country forward during this crisis’.

Now more than ever, our Constitution and Bill of Rights need to be cherished and protected.  Those who have sworn to protect it will need to step up. Those of us, who are not sworn to do so, will need to be the backbone. Watchfulness is the byword; preparedness is the key

We had best be prepared. We had best pay attention. Watch closely, and do your best to peer through the smoke screens to see what they are REALLY doing.
